What is a hurricane season?
Every year, there are a few months when hurricanes can occur. During these months, the sea is warm enough to collide with the cold wind from the north and form a hurricane. Before they tell you that you are in danger, make sure you give yourself the correct information. Click read more to read the rest of this blog.
Tip one: Contact a local person, hotel staff or emergency services. Chances are they have experienced hurricanes before and know what to do. Try to understand the seriousness of the situation from their perspective.
Tip Two: Remember that international hurricane news is often based on old news and sometimes contains incorrect information. Therefore, look for information in local media or live broadcasts on the Internet.
Tip three: be prepared to leave quickly. Make sure your suitcase is almost full so you can leave at any time. Also keep all important documents with you in an accessible and waterproof bag.
Tip Four: Make sure you have enough drinking water before the hurricane hits. As soon as the hurricane lands, stores could close. Tap water is often not drinkable, let alone during a hurricane.
Tip Five: Stay inside as much as possible. Only go outside if you absolutely have to. Perhaps most important: stay calm.
Hurricanes can be intense, but most hurricanes cause almost no damage or casualties. If in doubt, always follow the instructions of the emergency services!
