The best views in the US
The best views in the US are of course a matter of opinion. But there are some sights that are famous the world over and if you’re traveling to the United States, these stunning sights should be at the top of your “must see” list. Whether you’re looking for spectacular mountain ranges or picturesque spots for romantic moments, you’ll find something of interest here.
Located just a short helicopter ride from Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon is one of the natural wonders of the world. This stunning location is renowned for its wonderful views of the Colorado River and its spectacular red rock formations. There are several wonderful vantage points along the rim of the canyon—local tour companies will advise you which one is best for a memorable photograph. While you’re there, don’t forget to visit Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon.
2. Blue Lakes Trail, Colorado
Located around 12,000 feet above sea level, the Blue Lakes Hiking Trail is one of the most beautiful locations in America. Take a hike high up in the hills, and see the beautiful lakes that glisten in the sun from a spectacular vantage point. Perhaps the most eye-catching view of them all can be found at Yankee Boy Basin, which is home to a turquoise lake that is surrounded by trees and mountain ranges. Along the way, you’ll come across wildflowers, mountain goats, sheep and marmots. Just make sure you get a photo overlooking one of the area’s stunning lakes.
3. The Brooklyn Bridge, New York
One of the most iconic man-made sights in America is the view from under the Brooklyn Bridge. From this amazing vantage point, you can see the architecture that defines New York City. Enjoy the night view for an even more spectacular photograph. Spanning over 6,000 feet, this is one of the most recognizable suspension bridges in the world. To enhance your visit, walk across the bridge as the sun begins to set.
4. Cathedral of St. Helena, Montana
Saint Helena’s Cathedral is a German-built cathedral characterized by its beautiful stained glass windows and Gothic twin spires. The building itself is spectacular enough, but against the backdrop of the massive mountain ranges that surround it, this cathedral is simply stunning. Hike one of the many trails that surround St. Helena for a view you’ll never forget. And don’t forget to enjoy the many views in the nearby Gates of Mountains wilderness area.
5. Niagara Falls, New York
Nowhere in the world can you feel the ferocity of Mother Nature more than at Niagara Falls. Located on the US-Canada border, this iconic landmark is actually three separate waterfalls: two are in New York and one is in Ontario. The American side of Niagara Falls is best seen from the air. Alternatively, go up to the observation deck at Skylon Tower. If you’d rather feel the spray of the falls on your face, take a trip to Horseshoe Falls on one of the many boat tours in the area.
6. The Golden Gate Bridge
There aren’t too many sights in the world that give you everything you could want in one frame. Capturing the best of Mother Nature, human engineering and urban sprawl is something that only a few places on the planet manage to achieve. One of those places is the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Stretching 4,200 feet, this incredible structure is the gateway to the San Francisco Bay Area. Find the right vantage point overlooking the area and you’ll see the bay, the city, the bridge, Alcatraz Island and the ocean in a unique and impressive setting.
7. The Rocky Mountains
The United States is blessed with many spectacular mountain ranges. But one of the most spectacular can be found in the Rocky Mountains. This mountain range, which stretches from Canada to Mexico, is so large that it had to be divided into four sections: the Colorado Plateau, the Southern Rockies, the Middle Rockies, and the Canadian Rockies. For a view of mountains that seem to touch the sky, head to Longs Peak, the highest peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. One of the more unusual mountain views can be found at the Mummy Range in the north of the park.
All of these stunning American sights are best experienced in person – photos just don’t do them justice. When the time is right, book a flight with BudgetAir and see these breathtaking sights for yourself.
