Throughout history, women have been breaking the glass ceiling as they fought to make their way in politics – the quintessential boy’s game. Currently, there are 144 women in Congress. Although politicians do not receive as much attention as celebrities in Hollywood, their impacts are lasting and have helped change the world. Here are the most successful and famous American policies that inspire us daily.
1. Kamala Harris
On January 20, 2021, Kamala Harris was sworn in as vice president. She is the first female vice president and also the first Black and South Asian female vice president. Born in Oakland, California, she was the state’s attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and elected to the United States Senate in 2016.
2. Jill Biden
Right next to Kamala is Jill Biden, the new first lady of the White House. Under the Obama administration more than a decade ago, she was the second lady. She has been an educator for many years and has also advocated for military families, women’s issues, and the importance of community college education.

3. Hillary Clinton
There’s no doubt that Hillary, once a presidential candidate, is one of the most memorable female politicians out there. She was First Lady from 1993 to 2001 and later became a US senator from New York. She then worked her way up to the 67th position of United States Secretary of State, before her big presidential nomination in 2016.
4. Nancy Pelosi
Pelosi is one of our heroes and always will be. She is direct, to the point and as smart as they come. This politician is a member of the Democratic Party in the United States and has been Speaker of the United States House of Representatives since early 2019. She is the only woman to have held that position, the highest-ranking elected woman in the history of the United States. .
5. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
When the Bronc’s Ocasio-Cortez defeated incumbent Joe Crowley in 2018, she became a household name across the country. After all, Crowley hadn’t had a primary challenger since 2004. This historic campaign made Alexandria the youngest woman to serve in Congress.
6. Condoleezza Rice
Rice is an American diplomat and political scientist who served as the 66th United States Secretary of State. She was the first African American woman to hold this position and was President Bush’s National Security Advisor during his first presidential term. She was the only woman to ever hold this position.
