We previously wrote about Simon Porte Jacquemus thanks to his unique vision of artistic faces made from household items. You may know this designer thanks to his chic outfits and the fit models who usually show them off on his Instagram.
But with the quarantine underway, many photo shoots are on hold. So, this designer decided to use members of his own family as models for his latest designs. This time, the star of the Summer 2020 lookbook is a little different from her standard model. Spoiler alert: it’s his grandmother. Jacquemus’s grandmother’s name is Liline and she is our latest obsession.
If you’re throwing shade at that, you clearly have no sense of style or class, because this grandma is the coolest, most beautiful look-book model we’ve seen in a long time. With the soft lighting and natural setting, no high fashion shoot can match the energy of this photo series. Also, can we get a shout out for those eye-catching silver roots?
Her years of wisdom and casual posing in the stunning designs (look at that grandma body) create a gorgeous lookbook. The series of photographs was taken with the designer’s own smartphone. Fashion titans should consider doing this more often instead of doing it with a high-end camera. Still, it seems more realistic and relatable than a size zero fashion fantasy!
The background was dreamier than a pre-planned photo shoot, which took place in the French countryside. Think Garden of Eden with candy and pastel colors. A botanical parade, if you will. We can’t wait to see what else he does with the garden for future sessions. Furthermore, how could we complement the landscape without its most important accessory: that charming golden retriever, which is Liline’s puppy?
We also love that they integrated Liline’s own selfies along with photos of her that her grandson took. It’s about how this queen sees herself, and not just from the perspective of a male gaze. This beautiful grandmother was the obvious choice for this campaign and embodies the spirit of Simon Jacquemus: fun, elegant, playful and daring.
