Following the announcement of the launch of Apple’s iPhone 15 series, the American technology multinational Google has also announced the launch date of its upcoming devices, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
Confirmed! Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will launch on October 4; Pixel Watch 2 can also be revealed.
Made by Google Event Dates
The Google event is scheduled for October 4 and the Pixel Watch 2 may also be launched.
In these updates, significant changes in design, camera and battery are expected for the new devices.
Interestingly, this event is scheduled for October 4, just a few weeks after the new iPhone models become available.
There are rumors that Google could reveal the second-generation Google Pixel Watch 2 along with the phones.
Like last year, this annual Made by Google event will take place in person in New York City.
Additionally, the event will be streamed live on YouTube starting at 10 a.m. PT. m. ET or 7:30 p.m. m. IST.
At this event, attendees and online viewers can expect the unveiling of two new Pixel phones, the Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro.
Features and specifications for Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro (expected)
Considering the upcoming launch, Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro have been in the spotlight for quite some time.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro recently appeared on Google’s website showing the back of the phone in porcelain color.
We can expect the design of the two phones to be consistent with their predecessors.
But there should be small differences, for example the Pro model is expected to have a flat screen instead of a curved one on the base model.
In the future, the Pro model’s camera hood may have a single cutout for all lenses and include a temperature sensor.
Google’s in-house third-generation chipset will be used in these devices alongside the Tensor G3 and should come with Android 14 pre-installed.
Apart from this, we also expect camera improvements for the Google Pixel 8 series this year.
Specifically, a new 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN2 primary sensor is anticipated, which reportedly captures 35% more light than the GN1 sensors used in the Pixel 6 and 7 series.
In the case of the Google Pixel 8 Pro, it may feature a new 64MP ultra-wide sensor, while the Google Pixel 8 will likely retain the 12.2MP version.
Both devices are expected to come with new software features, such as the ability to control bokeh intensity and an adaptive flashlight to prevent overexposure.
As for the display, the Google Pixel 8 is expected to have a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
On the other hand, the Google Pixel 8 Pro is expected to have a 6.7-inch flat display with a variable refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 1600 nits.
As for the battery, both phones are expected to see a slight increase.
It is speculated that the Google Pixel 8 may have a 4,485 mAh battery and the Google Pixel 8 Pro a 4,950 mAh battery.
In addition to this, both devices are expected to have improved wired charging capabilities with the Google Pixel 8 supporting 24W charging speeds and the Google Pixel 8 Pro supporting 27W charging speeds.
They are expected to support 20W wireless connection.
