Discover the locations of Christmas movies
Are you ready to get into the Christmas mood already? Then you won’t regret reading this collection of existing locations that could lead you directly to the sets of your favorite Christmas movies!
last christmas
Let’s start with one of the most recent holiday movies, Last Christmas. This modern story is set in the beautiful city of London. Kate (Emilia Clarke), takes us through the most magical and unknown corners of the capital of the United Kingdom. From Covent Garden, where the “Yuletide Store” is located, to London’s narrowest alley (Brydges Place), to the homeless shelter (St Mary’s Church)… Follow Kate’s adventures through London to fully immerse yourself in the Christmas atmosphere.
Home Alone 2 is the sequel to the best-known and most watched Christmas movie of all time and is set, like most holiday movies, in stunning New York City. Follow Kevin’s footsteps around the Big Apple: Queensboro Bridge, Radio City Music Hall, Battery Park, Wollman Rink and of course… Times Square!
Amanda’s (Cameron Diaz) and Graham’s (Jude Law) romantic story in The Holiday probably had everyone hooked on their screens, but did you know that you can actually visit Iris’s quaint hometown? This part of the film was set in Shere, England (South London). This small snowy town located in the Surrey district really gives off fairy tale vibes. Perhaps during your visit to Shere you could also meet your perfect British gentleman…
This all-time classic couldn’t be set anywhere else – it’s obviously New York City! Unlike all the other Christmas movies found here, however, the sets show a unique and less common view of the Big Apple. Miracle on 34th Street places a heavy emphasis on Macy’s department store (where Santa meets the children). This location is also famous for the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, in fact the largest in the world, which winds through the streets of Manhattan.
Is ELF your favorite Christmas movie of all time? Then you should definitely plan a trip to New York over the holidays! It is probably on everyone’s wish list to be in this magical city during the winter season. To experience the city to the fullest, try following the journey of our beloved elf Buddy: go ice skating at Rockfeller Center, catch a glimpse of the city lights from the Empire State Building, take a stroll through snowy Central Park and who knows… you may end up tripping over Santa’s sleigh!
love actually
Since we started this series with London, we must also conclude it with the capital of the United Kingdom! Love Actually is probably everyone’s favorite Christmas rom-com, making everyone want to be in London for the holidays. From the opening and closing scenes at Heathrow airport, through Selfridges department store on Oxford Street, to the famous cue card scene set in Notting Hill… this kind of vacation, as the movie does, could really bring everyone together.
