Cap D’Antibes Beach Hotel
The Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel is a short distance from Nice Airport, 17 kilometers away. It has a striking modern design with lots of interesting artwork. We loved this quirky bookcase in the lobby. The 22 rooms are individually designed by Sybille de Margerie. Each has a private garden or a roof terrace. The hotel is the only one in Cap d’Antibes that has a private sandy beach. There is a charming restaurant with 1 Michelin star, Les Pêcheurs. Nicolás Navarro, the executive chef trained with Alain Ducasse. One little tip, if you ask nicely, he or one of his staff can sign the menu for you as a souvenir. We started in style with duck liver foie gras, served with raw figs, Barolo vinegar and blackcurrant. Our next dish was some very tasty porcini cooked in fig leaves with caramelized chestnuts. We highly recommend the main course, a San Pedro steak with potato gnocchi in a spicy sauce. We finished with a light and fluffy almond and hazelnut praliné soufflé, with lemon sorbet. There is also a laid-back beach restaurant, Le Cap, open for lunch and dinner. See artwork by local artists below.
Saint Tropez
Be sure to take the scenic coastal drive from Cap d’Antibes to Saint Tropez, it takes about an hour and a half and the views are stunning. Saint Tropez hasn’t changed much since we were last there many years ago. The port is very picturesque and you can stop for a coffee at the famous café Sénéquier on quai Jean Jaurès.
There are some interesting art galleries and sculptures to visit.
028-P1060827 Saint Tropez has many pedestrian streets that you can stroll through. La Tarte Tropezienne is a must-try cream brioche delicacy, made to a secret recipe. Created in 1955 by Alexandre Micka, it was one of Brigitte Bardot’s favorites during the filming of “And God Created Woman”. For a small town, there are quite a few designer shops. If you have time, go up to the Citadel at the top of the hill for stunning views of the bay and the famous church tower.
Villa Belrose
Just a ten minute drive from Saint Tropez, Villa Belrose is a beautiful property set in 7000 square meters of landscaped grounds with an uninterrupted view of the bay. The rooms are a perfect mix of old and new with a modern soft gray color scheme and the kitchen is second to none.
