Gone With the Wind
This particular green dress was made to look off-the-cuff and hastily done. If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll know that Scarlett O’Hara supposedly had nothing to wear and decided to make herself a dress out of old velvet drapes. A great plan, we must admit, and the result is very striking and memorable.
Mirror Mirror
If you’re going to play Snow White, you have to wear a puffy dress, and that’s exactly what Lily Collins did in the movie Mirror, Mirror. This beautiful dress, with a pink bodice, green sleeves and a huge yellow skirt adorned with floral embroidery, is as fairytale as it gets. But wearing it is not easy, since it is made with about 30 meters of fabric, it has a corset and the skirt has a wire structure to give it more volume. And then there’s the cloak he was wearing. It seems that using it was a training, but the result is really worth it.
Titanic
This gorgeous dress Rose wore in Titanic will forever be etched in our memories as the dress she almost jumped off the ship in. On one hand we must congratulate her on a great choice of dress to die for, on the other hand it would have been a shame to ruin such a pretty dress. Fortunately, Jack was there to convince her not to jump.
Beauty and the Beast
When you think of Belle from Beauty and the Beast, you probably think of her in her blue pinafore dress or the iconic yellow dress from the animated film, but those are not the dresses we want to focus on, they are too predictable. . While they both look great in the new version, it’s the floral dress Belle wears to the wedding that we want to talk about. It’s a brave and risky choice that no one expected, but we love it. The dress looks more modern than the yellow we are used to, but the painted flowers and floral details on the back bring back that fairy tale charm.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Some of us are hardcore Harry Potter fans and therefore not sure about the Lion or the Witch, but the Wardrobe is really impressive. Just look at this dress. It was made to convey the icy nature of the character in the film and mimic the color of ice. This dress was actually very well thought out and was made from three layers of materials: velvet (for structure), wool and silk (for texture) and the top layer was lace (for that regal elegance).
snow white and the huntsman
Fairytale dresses are always memorable, but we really think Snow White and the Huntsman costumes take the cake. This dress worn by the Wicked Witch was especially memorable thanks to its unusual structural elements around the shoulders. The designer, Colleen Antwood, even admitted in the interview that the dresses worn by the Wicked Witch in this film were the most difficult to make because they had to be stunning and elegant, but convey the evil nature of the character and the transformation by the that goes through
Gentlemen prefer blondes
Marilyn Monroe can make any dress look great, but this pink number she wore in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is particularly memorable. This dress is truly one of a kind. It is strapless but floor length, made of shiny pink satin, features a very impressive bow at the back and comes with a matching set of pink gloves. And amazingly, this was not originally going to be the dress Marilyn wears in the movie, it’s a backup dress that was made in 2 days when the studio didn’t approve the original.
Ziegfeld Girl
If you haven’t seen the movie, do yourself a favor and watch it. If not for the plot, then just to see the beautiful dress in action. The stars loving the dress and the seamless transition to the accessories is absolutely stunning. If you ever want to feel like the star of the show, wear a dress like this.
